Talking Head’s frontman David Byrne liked the line, adapting it for what became “Burning Down the House.” During the session, drummer Chris Frantz kept yelling “Burn down the house,” inspired by a Parliament-Funkadelic show he’d recently attended. A mix of new wave and funk music, the song was conceived during a jam session, according to bassist Tina Weymouth. If the song sounded familiar to you but you’re not sure where you’ve heard it before, you might be surprised to learn that it’s actually a very popular song from 1983 called “Burning Down the House” from the album Speaking in Tongues by Talking Heads.
It’s an outrageous plan that would only work in The Walking Dead universe, right down to the song chosen by the heroes.
